DVI Problem

Audio/Video Cable Questions : DVI Problem

I have a 28" LCD panel sitting at home now i used to own a 22" and this problem i will describe never once happened on the 22".

I seem to get mouse lag / monitor lag i was wondering i used your formulae to work out the desired Mhz and bandwidth i needed to run my monitor at that required resolution ....... now i noticed when i plugged the DVI cable in the back of my pc that its only a single link DVI cable.

So my question is can a cable that is not carrying the appropriate amount of info can this cause the monitor to slighty lag ... when i mean lag its ever so slightly.

Any help much appreciated spec's below

1920 x 1200 resolution and only running 60hz atm

8800 gts video card Nvidia

so my system spec's should be able to easily cope with the resolution.

Stats : 11 Replies

Audio/Video Cable Questions : Need solution for a slow system!!!

Hi everybody…..I have been using my system for a while now (I generally don't use that unless its imp)….but over the days it has become slow and that irritates me. The work that I usually do on my system is for our company projects that needs some soft wares. The software keeps changing by project point of view and this is one of the reasons my friend pointed out for the slow running. Can anyone help or suggest me any good solution for this problem.

Thanks in advance!!!

Stats : 3 Replies

Audio/Video Cable Questions : Need solution for a slow system!!!

I would start with the basics. Open up the case and check the heat sinks, see if they are clogged with dust. This is ussually the biggest problem for system performance. I ussually clean mine out every 3 months, and they are ussually full every 3 months.

After the heat sinks, have been clean up (or checked out) I would then start with normal system matience, defrag (clear up HD space if needed). At this point if the system is still runing poorly, I would then start to look at other options, such as setting the paging file to static size and looking to see what processes are running.

Anyways that should be plenty to start with.

Data Cabling Questions & Answers : What can you tell me about BNC monitor connections?

I have a top of the line Sony 21" CRT monitor model GDM-F500R that has both HD15 and 5 BNC connectors. Because of the .22mm dot pitch I would like to use this monitor with my new video card that has dual DVI connectors. I have heard that the BNC connectors give a superior image display compared to the analog HD15 connector. Will I get a better picture using a DVI-A to 5BNC cable?

Stats : 3 Replies

Data Cabling Questions & Answers : What can you tell me about BNC monitor connections?

The user manual for the Sony GDM-F500R monitor doesn't have a lot to say about the 5 BNC connection. I have located a vendor that sells the cable with a DVI-A connector but haven't ordered it yet. According to Sony "This connector inputs RGB video signals (0.700 Vp-p, positive) and sync signals." Then it says, the five BNC connectors are Red-Green-Blue-HD-VD. and this little note at the end, "Plug & Play (DDC) does not apply to the five BNC connectors. If you want to use Plug & Play, connect your computer to the HD15 connector using the supplied video signal cable."

Somewhere along the way I read years ago that the 5 BNC connection was desireable for more detailed display as in CAD programs. I also recall several PC magazines named it there monitor of choice for many years running before flat panel digital displays arrived.

I will post an update when I get the DVI-A 5BNC cable.

Stats : 3 Replies

Data Cabling Questions & Answers : VGA Male to VGA Femail and RCA

What you are asking for is not possible since they are two diffrent video formats. you would need to two diffrent splitters. It might be possible to find a matrix type switcher that would do this for you, but I'm sure if you found one you would be shocked at the cost.

Stats : 2 Replies

CL2R for phones?

All Other Cable Questions : CL2R for phones?

 Hello all!

Recently, I had my basement finished. I requested that phone lines and cable be run to every room in the basement. After the basement was finished, I checked the phone wall plates to find, instead of cat5 or cat5e, the electrician had run a big brown cable called CL2R (Class 2 riser) to all of the phone jacks. This cable has 10, 18 awg wires within. My understanding is that this cable is to be used for audio. So my question is, is this type of cable suitable for phone use or data sending?

The reason I ask is because I have run internet through phone lines. The cable used for the phone lines was cat5e cable. The internet through the phone lines works just fine. When I tried to run internet through this CL2R, my computer couldn't connect to the router. It has started to make me question whether or not this electrician even knew what he was doing.

So, have I been ripped off, or is there a way to run phone and data through this CL2R cable?

Thanks,
Tux

Stats : 6 Replies

All Other Cable Questions : CL2R for phones?

Np, always like to be helpfull.

If you are unsure, if you will add more lines in the future and you decide to re-run those lines, you might also consider putting some pull string. Simple and cheap, but most people over look it. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck.

Stats : 6 Replies

Computer to HDTV - DVI-I or DVI-D Dual/Single Link to HDMI

Audio/Video Cable Questions : Computer to HDTV - DVI-I or DVI-D Dual/Single Link to HDMI

Customer Question - "Hello. I'm trying to connect my LCD HDTV to my computer, so that I can use the TV as my monitor. The problem I'm having is figuring out what kind of cable I need. I know I need the HDMI to go into my TV, but I can't seem to find a cable that has DVI-I Dual Link on the other end. Do I need to link or is that optional? I'm kind of confused . I'm using DVD-I Dual Link going into my computer now from my LCD monitor."

This is a very common customer question. While it may seem quite confusing the answer is rather simple. When the video card manufacturers produce video cards they want to make sure the video card will work with as many displays as possible. Since there are such a wide variety of displays availble now days most video cards ship with a DVI-I connection.

This DVI-I (intergrated both analog and digital) connection will allow you to connect a analog SVGA (with adapter) or analog DVI-A cable to the port to support most analog monitor types. The DVI-I connection also allows you connect digital devices using the DVI-d cable or HDMI (with adapter).

The DVI-D to HDMI connection is always a single link connection. So while you may have a DVI-I connector on the video you really need a DVI-D Single link to HDMI or DVI-D Cable to connect your pc to your HDTV via a HDMI or DVI port.

Stats : 1 Post
